Estoril testing

Following a good showing in the Portuguese Moto GP Cal Crutchlow and Colin Edwards produced some excellent testing at the Estoril circuit.
With excellent testing conditions and no rain forecast the two riders took advantage of the seven hour testing window to improve the set-ups that saw them collect an impressive pair of top ten finishes less than 24 hours later.
Those who watch moto gp regularly will note how Crutchlow changed his handlebar position and modified the wheelbase of his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 YZR-M1 bike to produce the best results of the test. The rider managed to shave off an extremely significant two seconds from his best lap time achieved during the 28 lap race on Sunday.
With the altered set-up the 25 year old produced a best time of 1:36:850 and finished with the fourth best time of the day with only Marco Simoncelli, Jorge Lorenzo, and Casey Stoner beating him over his 71 laps.
Meanwhile Colin Edwards also enjoyed a very productive day. The American rider finished the Portuguese Moto GP in tenth place and concentrated on rear wheel grip in order to improve his times. Working with a range of different suspension suspension settings Edwards looked to get the most out of his machine and clocked a best time of 1:37:410 to secure the sixth best time on the day after completing 51 laps. Edwards had lapped at times within the best three for the majority of the session but was just eased out towards the end but will be more than satisfied with his times.
The two riders will now be able to provide some strong feedback to Bridgestone about the new specification rear tyres designed for the new 1000cc Moto GP class for 2012.
