I do a lot of extreme sports involving wind, Paramotoring, Paragliding, etc. and to gauge the wind i look out my living room window like most of us and watch the trees and the leaves to see how much they move, after doing this for a few years i've got pretty good at knowing the wind speed, unfortunately there's no leaves in the winter and sometimes after loading everything up and trudging up to the fields i found the wind a lot stronger than i'd anticipated.

After some thought i decided it was time to invest in an anemometer or in layman's terms a wind meter cos i can't pronounce whatever that word was I searched around on the internet and found this:

It's a home weather station which comes with an anemometer too. The La Crosse ws3502 also comes with software so you can download your data onto your PC. (i have found problem with trying to connect it to a laptop in the way of nobody seems to sell the correct cable in the uk)

I mounted the wind gauge at the top of my TV arial pole which is on the roof, i had to move the ariel down slightly to give some clearance, the cable then goes to the transmiter which is mounted in the attic and then from there it's wireless which means you can put the portable touch screen any where in the home or garden, i have mine 3 floors down in the basement and still get a great reception.

As with all LaCrosse weather stations it comes with a 2 year warranty and the precession of a Swiss built barometer.
