New pair of skates

I have plans to buy a new pair of hockey skates. The question on my mind right now is - to or not to buy my next pair of skates off the net. I came across some websites selling great hockey skates (though the site is mainly focused on selling baseball and softball bats) but I am having second thoughts about getting my skates off the net. Next to biking, ice hockey is the only other sport I love. I got my first pair of skates during my teenage days from a friend of mine. I loved skating and no wonder ice hockey was the right choice. Who would not love a game that you can play sliding on a pair of skates? Okay back to the point, I really don't know if or not I should buy my next pair of skates off the internet. It's not that I have not brought shoes before online, but this is a bit different. Your skates are really important and can make or break your game. On the other hand, I would hate going to a shop to buy anything cause of the marketing pitch that I am forced to listen to. The salesperson always pitches the most expensive skates. Secondly the nearest sporting store is located around 3 hours drive from where I live. Now that is a lot of fuel money. Considering the current rates, I can definitely save a lot more if I buy online. Another issue with buying from a store is that you never know what brands the store has and what is not in stock. You can always call, but you never know. Some brands get shipped out fast and could vanish even before you reach there. So there are definitely a lot of advantages of getting your sporting goods off the net. But I am still thinking. What do you guys think?

My personal opinion, i would find a pair i liked in a shop that where a great fit and then buy them on-line.

I suppose if the nearest store is 3 hours drive away you're in a bit of a dilemma, but to order skates or any other kind of footwear online you may have to order and send a lot of pairs back before you get the correct fit. I wouldn't want to participate in a sport with uncomfortable footware.

Some nice skates on that website, have you tried copying the description and pasting it into your bowser then doing a search to see who else sells those same skates? You maybe able to get them cheaper on another website.
